With 30 years as professor of Counseling Ministries and with eight years as Chairman of the Department at DTS, Dr. Jones brings a wealth of experience in the field of Counseling. In his part-time counseling practice, he brings that experience and training to individual clients who find themselves struggling in relationships or dealing with challenges in difficult life circumstances.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, he extends his expertise beyond the academic realm, actively nurturing a private counseling practice for individual adults. Originally hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Jones earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia State University before embarking on a transformative academic and professional journey.
After five impactful years with Campus Crusade for Christ, Dr. Jones pursued advanced studies at Dallas Theological Seminary, earning his Master of Theology degree. In 1982, he became a vital member of the pastoral staff at Northwest Bible Church, concurrently pursuing his doctoral studies at the University of North Texas. In 1988, he achieved the Doctor of Philosophy with a focus on Counselor Education and Marriage Counseling.
Beyond his academic and counseling career, Dr. Jones celebrates a vibrant personal life. Married to his wife, Amy, for over forty years, he finds joy in shared adventures, entertaining guests at home, and indulging his passion for golf.
